JCI Liverpool’s launch event last week

We would like to thank everyone who helped to make last week’s launch event such a success!

JCI Launch event 01

JCI Liverpool (previously known as Liverpool Junior Chamber of Commerce) was established in 1931, and played an important part in Liverpool’s history. One of JCI Liverpool’s most important projects was the first Liverpool Lord Mayor’s Parade in 1972, which became an important annual event, and ran for almost 40 years. JCI Liverpool was disbanded in 1993, but has now been re-launched under the leadership of a dynamic management team of young professionals in the city.

The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Sharon Sullivan, invited us to hold the launch event at Liverpool Town Hall on 21 March 2013. The event was organised by JCI Liverpool in collaboration  with  HSBC  and  the  Institute  of  Chartered  Accountants  in  England  and  Wales (ICAEW), and was sponsored by the Santino Restaurant in Liverpool.

The launch event was a great success and we are pleased about all the support which we received from the local community.

We are always looking for more local professionals to join us and anyone interested in joining can find out more by visiting www.jciliverpool.co.uk

“Influencing – a key skill for success” training & networking on 28 March‏

Do you have all the right skills and attitudes but find influencing others to commit to your ideas and plans a challenge?

It is highly recognised now that we cannot simply tell others what to do, and in order to be successful in gaining commitment to our ideas and plans we must use our skills of influence effectively.

Influencing is an interpersonal skill that largely depends on your ability to interact with others in a way that appeals to them in order to gain their attention and commitment. Having the ability to recognise and flex your style to suit a given situation is vital for influencing success, and getting it wrong can unfortunately have a negative effect on those around you and the outcome you desire.

On 28th March 2013 (from 5.15PM), JCI Liverpool will be holding a 60 minute Influencing skills workshop, aimed at helping you to better understand the varying styles of influencing people adopt, your own preferred style and how to be more flexible and effective in your influencing approach moving forwards.

The workshop will take place at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce (1 Old Hall Street, Liverpool).

We are planning to go for drinks (at the Exchange Bar on Old Hall Street) afterwards.
